Bara Banghal is a tribal village situated in the lap of beautiful Himalayas in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. This village is located at the height of 7700 ft. above sea level and can be reached from Bir near Baijnath or from Chamba. One can survive here without buying ration for months as village people will invite you for lunch or dinner.
There is no sign of development in this area. Transportation facility is nil and there is no proper road or any convenient way to reach the village. Presently, people have no choice but to cross the Thamasar Pass on ponies.
Bada Banghal village is open for 6 monts in a year. Rest of the time trails to Bada Bhangal village closed due to bad weather and heavy snowfall in the mountain passes. People of Bada Bhangal village has two houses – one at Bada Bhangal village and other at lower region of kangra valley. And in winters they come to other houses which are in lower regions. Jogindarnagar is nearest town to bara Banghalvillage for all major economic activities.
According to Census 2011 information the Bara Banghal village is located in Multhan tehsil of Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh, India. It is situated 140km away from district headquarter Multhan. Multhan is the sub-district headquarter of Bara Banghal village.
The total geographical area of village is 5298.04 hectares. Bara Banghal has a total population of 484 peoples, out of which male population is 238 while female population is 246. Literacy rate of bara Banghal village is 54.34% out of which 57.98% males and 50.81% females are literate. There are about 89 houses in bara Banghal village. Pincode of bara Banghal village locality is 176122.
Arranging food items is also a big challenge. Without food, it is very difficult for humans and animals to survive. Due to lack of road facilities for ration and essential items. People here have to buy ration for 6-7 months at once. Horses and mules are used to bring the ration

Bada Banghal is a very inaccessible place because it is surrounded by Dhauladhar Panji and Manikaran mountain ranges. Bada Bengal borders Chamba, Lahaul, Spiti and Kallu. There is no special electricity system in this place and the government has also not made any special contribution in providing electricity. Solar lights are being used by people to deal with the electricity problem. There is no hospital in Bada BengalThere is a high school here, it is a government high school, which has to be shifted somewhere else in winter. The occupation of the people here is farming, animal husbandry and labour.You will not find modern facilities here, but here you can enjoy the beauty of nature and inhale the clean fresh air.
There is no road here at all, so to come here or go out from here, all the people have to walk only on foot. It takes three-four days to walk, which is very tiring.
